This page explains the open, non-prize Discovery Phase and the pre-opening validation of a possible Clandestinus prize competition.
The Clandestinus investigation is being prepared as a skill-based competition. Prize funding, official rules, eligibility, verification procedures and legal checks are being finalised before competitive submissions open. The prize-entry gate remains closed.
Purchasing a Clandestinus book does not constitute entry, provide priority or improve a participant's position in any future competition.

Competition status: PRE-OPENING VALIDATION
This interim notice describes free public exploration while the prize competition's funding, final rules, eligibility, verification, privacy and legal checks are being finalised. It is not the final competition rules. Exploration does not create a competition entry, reward claim, priority position or entitlement.
Competitive entries will remain closed until the prize and promoter are secured, the final rules and eligibility are published, verification and privacy arrangements are ready, and the required legal review is complete.
The Discovery Gate findings channel may accept theories, observations and possible solutions for non-prize project review only. It is separate from the closed competition-entry route.

03 / Investigation protocol
Method and record-keeping
The intended method is independent observation, research, reasoning and documentation. A future formal submission must be capable of being reviewed from the participant’s own record.
- Start with Book I.Book I is the primary source for the investigation. Buying the book is recommended for the complete experience, but purchase is optional during this free Discovery Phase.
- Study the evidence.Examine the symbols, page order, visual patterns, omissions, historical references, and repeated structures carefully.
- Work as an investigator.Keep a private notebook of observations, references, hypotheses, tests, and the reasoning that connects one finding to the next.
- Use your own reasoning.Do not use generative AI, automated answer engines, solver software, paid human researchers, puzzle-solving services, answer marketplaces, or essay/assignment-writing services to discover, reconstruct, interpret, or write a solution. Paying a lawyer or other professional for advice about the website’s operation or legal compliance is permitted, but nobody else may discover or produce your solution for you. Accessibility and translation tools that do not generate or interpret the answer are not the target of this restriction.
- Protect the discovery.Keep a private record of your work. If you want project review, use the separate Discovery Gate findings channel rather than the contact form or unofficial channels.
- Record the current status.The prize-entry gate is closed. Any Discovery finding shared through its separate channel is for non-prize project review only and creates no entitlement, timestamp, ranking or promise of payment.
Current effect: the Discovery Phase is exploratory only. No reward can currently be earned, reserved or claimed through this website.
Eligibility required
A correct answer alone may not be enough. Participants must satisfy identity, age, location, timing, legal, and compliance requirements.
Privacy matters
Publicly posting a solution may affect a participant’s ability to prove original discovery and may create disputes with other participants.
Eligibility
Participants must meet the eligibility requirements listed in the official rules. Eligibility may depend on age, country of residence, local laws, identity verification, and compliance with the submission process.
Project Clandestinus may request reasonable information to confirm identity, eligibility, originality of submission, and compliance with the rules.
Purchase and access
Clandestinus Books I and II are published mystery experiences and public entry points into the wider Clandestinus world. Readers may use them to study the symbols, patterns, hidden structure, and possible coded messages.
Buying a book is a purchase of a literary and investigative publication. It does not create an entry, priority position, eligibility claim, or entitlement to any future challenge or reward. Any future participation route will be described separately in its published terms.
Submission process
Prize-entry submissions are not open. The separate Discovery Gate may accept non-prize findings for project review, but it is not a competition entry route. Any future official entry route will be identified here after activation. Solutions sent through social media, comments, direct messages, private messages, or unofficial channels may not be accepted.
A complete submission should include the decoded message, the participant’s explanation of the method used, relevant page or symbol references, and any other information requested by the submission form.
Verification
A submission may be considered valid only if it correctly identifies the required hidden message or solution pathway and explains the method of discovery clearly enough to be reviewed.
Verification may include assessment of accuracy, completeness, originality, timing, internal logic, supporting explanation, and compliance with all applicable rules.
Multiple correct answers
If multiple participants submit correct or partially correct answers, Project Clandestinus may review submission timestamps, completeness, originality, supporting evidence, and verification strength according to the official process.
The first submission received is not automatically guaranteed to qualify unless it satisfies the full validation and eligibility requirements.
Public disclosure
Participants should not publish their solution, decoded message, screenshots, method, or supporting explanation publicly before verification is complete.
Public disclosure may affect the participant’s ability to prove original discovery and may create disputes with other participants.
Fraud prevention
Project Clandestinus may reject any submission suspected of fraud, manipulation, plagiarism, automated abuse, generative-AI solution production, copied material, identity misrepresentation, technical abuse, or violation of the rules.
Any future formal submission process may require disclosure of material assistance or automated tools. Attempts to interfere with the website, verification system, submission process, or other participants may result in disqualification.
Reward conditions
No prize amount or prize funding is currently confirmed or available to participants. Any future prize, promoter, eligibility, payment entitlement, or entry conditions will be set out in final official rules before a competition is activated.
No reward claim or entitlement can currently be accepted or reserved.
Taxes and legal obligations
Any tax, reporting, currency conversion, banking, or legal responsibility connected to a reward may be the responsibility of the recipient, depending on their country of residence and applicable law.
Project Clandestinus may require identity and payment verification before any reward is processed.
Updates to the rules
Project Clandestinus may update these rules before full activation of the reward process or when needed for legal, technical, security, operational, or fairness reasons.
The latest version published on the official Project Clandestinus website will apply.
Final decision
Final validation decisions may be made by Project Clandestinus and/or appointed independent reviewers according to the official process.
Project Clandestinus reserves the right to reject incomplete, unclear, non-compliant, fraudulent, or unverifiable submissions.
Technical service state
The competition-entry service remains closed and does not accept, timestamp or store prize entries. The separate Discovery Gate is for non-prize findings only and does not create a competition claim.
The competition-entry service will open only after the activation conditions are satisfied and a public notice and final rules are published.
Originality and assistance
Any future formal submission must be the participant’s own work. Material assistance, automated answer generation, solver software, paid researchers and copied explanations must not be used to produce the solution.
A future form may require an assistance and originality declaration. Accessibility and translation tools that do not generate or interpret the answer are treated separately.
Gambling Act 2005 / provisional compliance structure
Skill, knowledge and judgment
The Competition is intended to operate as a genuine prize competition under the Gambling Act 2005. Success depends on the participant exercising substantial skill, knowledge and analytical judgment. The challenge is designed so that the required skill and knowledge are reasonably likely to prevent a significant proportion of prospective participants from successfully completing the Competition.
This describes the intended design, not a legal determination or approval. The Gambling Commission does not approve prize competitions or free draws. The final mechanics remain subject to specialist legal review before any competition entries open.
The current draft supporting-deduction approach is cumulative and remains subject to review. A participant would need to provide:
- The conclusion. State the proposed answer or decoded message clearly.
- The source record. Identify the relevant book, page, symbol, sequence or archival reference.
- The observations. Set out each material pattern, omission, comparison or transformation noticed.
- The reasoning chain. Explain every step connecting the observations to the conclusion.
- The exclusion test. Explain why competing readings do not account for the same evidence.
- The completeness check. Show why the deduction is complete, reproducible and not a lucky guess.
A correct answer without a complete, step-by-step supporting deduction would be incomplete under the current draft approach. The final mechanics, eligibility, equivalent no-purchase inspection route, judging and jurisdictional terms remain subject to legal review and published activation terms.
The draft framework promises an equivalent no-purchase route to inspect the challenge, with the same documentary evidence and submission timing. This route is not currently open for competition entries; the final process will be set out in the official rules before entries open.

Before submitting
Keep any future submission private and complete.
A complete future submission must state the answer and explain how it was found, which symbols or pages support it, and why the interpretation follows from the evidence.
